90% of Companies Surveyed Increasing Software as a Service (SAAS)

  • From an article on SAAS on ITWorld
  • Nine out of ten companies surveyed  plan to increase SaaS in the next year
  • 37%  plan to replace on-premises software with SaaS to drive down total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Cost-effectiveness deployment ease are as primary reasons for SaaS adoption.

Galorath’s study on the cost savings from the salesforce.com platform captured the software costs.  Additional study is underway to more completely capture the savings in IT Infrastructure and IT Services as well.

Still, when considering someone else backing up your data and probable limited retention policies SAAS makes me nervous.
